Online-Workshop: Less Stress through Mindfulness. Discover the Scientifically Proven Benefits of Mindfulness Training.
Studying, especially studying in a foreign country, can bring many outer and inner challenges: exam stress, pressure to perform, a new (language) environment, transitions, homesickness etc. Perhaps you are experiencing some of these difficulties and maybe you are looking for practical ways to offset them and regain your physical and mental balance.
Mindfulness meditation helps us turn towards all experiences, even difficult ones, with patience, equanimity and kindness – instead of habitually isolating, criticising or overextending ourselves or distracting ourselves in unhealthy ways. The practice of mindfulness and self-compassion invites us to take good care of our body and be attentive to its needs. Adopting an interested, open and non-judgmental attitude towards everything that arises is all that is required. We can train ourselves to pause and turn with kindness towards everything that moves us, internally and externally. This is an act of active self-care.
This workshop is a cooperation between the Department Viadrina International Affairs and the Psychological Counselling Centre at European University Viadrina. In this workshop, you will learn to access your innate capacity for kindness and awareness through different mindfulness practices. This will enable you to support yourself in helpful and constructive ways, even in challenging times.
We are planning on conduction these workshops in a face-to-face format. Due to the situation concerning COVID-19, however, it is quite possible that these workshops may take place digitally. That is why you can - even if you cannot foresee at the moment whether you will be on site at the Viadrina at the time of the workshops - register for it. In this case, you can then take part in the events online if a presence form is not possible due to the infection situation. Ahead of these workshops, a final decision will be made as to the form in which the events can take place and to what extent you can participate.
Target group: The workshop is aimed mainly at international students of the Viadrina. However, the workshop is also open to other Viadrina students depending on the availability of places. Please note that in this case the final approval of your participation will take place short before the workshop takes place. (Please note that the workshop is funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) within the project DAAD Integra. In this context places are partly provided for international students from Turkey, Syria, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Somalia, Eritrea and Nigeria.)
Organizer: This workshop is organized by the department Viadrina International Affairs in cooperation with the Psychological Councelling Centre of the Viadrina.
ECTS: No. A confirmation of participation will be issued - depending on regular attendance.
Trainer: Tonia Haack is a trainer for mindfulness and naturopath for psychotherapy.
Please note that when you register for this workshop, all registrations will be automatically accepted. However, the final confirmation about your attendance will be based on the above mentioned criteria and will be send to you short before the workshop by the course organizer. Therefore please also register for the workshop even the training mangement system shows that all places are occupied.
This workshop is suppose to take place at the Viadrina in room GD 102. Should on-campus workshops not be possible due to the COVID-19 situation, this workshop will be held online.
